This is an exciting new role for the business with the main purpose of the role being to lead the finance function and to play a pivotal role in supporting their continued growth.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a creative, commercially minded team working across the UK, where you’ll combine hands-on financial management with strategic influence at board level.
As Financial Controller, you’ll oversee all aspects of financial performance and reporting, manage a Finance Assistant, and deliver insightful analysis to guide business decisions. You’ll take ownership of monthly management accounts, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow planning — ensuring the business has clear visibility and control as it continues to scale.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the finance function, managing and developing a Finance Assistant
- Oversee accurate, timely monthly management accounts
- Prepare Management Information (MI) packs and financial commentary for board meetings
- Drive strategic financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow planning
- Partner with directors and project leads to improve project performance and profitability
- Monitor KPIs, revenue, and cost control across the business
- Manage year-end processes and liaise with external accountants and HMRC
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax obligations, and internal controls
- Review and enhance financial systems, policies, and procedures
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and recommendations to support commercial decisions
Key Skills / qualifications:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or equivalent experience.
- Proven track record in a finance leadership role, ideally within an SME or professional services setting
- Strong experience in forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting
- Skilled communicator, able to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Proficient in Xero or similar accounting software
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a balance of strategic and operational capability
- Collaborative, approachable, and confident influencing at senior level
