Odyssey House is seeking a Full-Time Driver!

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday. Ideal candidates will be flexible between 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays to meet the department’s needs.

Core Responsibilities:

You will be one of the first points of contact as our clients enter their sobriety journey! This role is vital in our client’s recovery as you will be that warm and welcoming face as you provide safe transportation to our facilities. In addition to direct client interface, you will help with luggage, vehicle maintenance/cleanliness, record keeping, and coordinating with other staff to meet clients’ needs. We will teach you how to hold healthy boundaries and maintain client safety. You also get to encourage clients as you see them progress in their treatment goals!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to operate 14-passenger vans/buses in a safe and mature manner
  • Must be responsible for transporting clients and/or staff from Odyssey House facilities to and from various locations throughout the Salt Lake and Northern Utah areas.
  • Will interact with clients, vendors, and others.
  • Will have excellent problem-solving skills and provide excellent and safe transportation services.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Effectively handle logistics
  • Organized and able to be on schedule
  • Will adhere to all Odyssey House staff dress codes
  • Drive and deliver vehicles locally or out of the area as needed, following all rules of the road
  • Delivery to the appropriate destination in a safe and courteous manner
  • Ride with or follow another driver to drop off vehicle(s) or pick up multiple vehicles
  • Organize travel routes and ensure daily pre-trip and mileage vehicle log paperwork is accurate and timely
  • May need to communicate via cellular phone
  • May be asked to clean vehicle and/or keep the van and/or bus clean during shift
  • Must be able to report mechanical or other vehicle issues to the supervisor promptly

Requirements:

  • Education High School or equivalent
  • Have a neat appearance
  • Be reliable, polite, and self-motivated
  • Have excellent customer service and communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work with clients from different backgrounds
  • Be able to drive safely and have good vision and hearing
  • Active Utah Drivers License for at least 3 years and satisfactory MVR check inclusive of driving (no more than 1 moving violations and/or at-fault accident in the past 3 years, and no drug or alcohol-related conviction on driving record in the last 10 years).
  • Eligible to work in the USA
  • Receive flu shot, TB test, and COVID-19 vaccine (spiritual and medical waivers available)
  • One year of sobriety, if in recovery

Physical Demands of the Job: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., drive (or adequate alternate transportation), sit and stand for prolonged periods, and perform light to moderate physical activity at times. Must be able to vacuum vans and/or buses, bend down, move quickly, and work outside with reasonable accommodation.
